Winter Poetry

Next week we will be reading and writing poetry.

What does winter mean to you? What kind of images come into your head when you think of winter? How does winter make you feel? Read the poem below and see if any pictures, thoughts or feelings come into your head.....

A Winter's Tale

It's winterfall
Read skies are gleaming
Seagulls are flying over
Swans are floating by
Smoking chimney tops
Am I dreaming?
Am I dreaming?
The nights draw in
There's a silky moon up in the sky
Children are fantasising
Grown-ups are standing by
What a super feeling
Am I dreaming?
Am I dreaming?

So quiet and peaceful
Tranquil and blissful
There's a kind of magic in the air
What a truly magnificent view
A breathtaking scene
With the dreams of the world
In the palm of your hand
A cosy fireside chat
A little this, a little that
Sound of merry laughter skipping by
Gentle rain beating on my face
What an extraordinary place!

It's all so beautiful
Like a landscape painting in the sky
Mountains are zooming higher
Little dogs scream and cry
My world is spinning and spinning and spinning
It's unbelievable
Sends me reeling
Am I dreaming?
Am I dreaming?
Oooh, it's bliss

Your task this week is to write a poem about what winter means to you. You can use the poem above, the pictures below and your own ideas to inspire you. Think about what you can see, hear, smell, taste and touch in winter.

I'm looking forward to reading your poems!

  1. Winter twirls like the sun,
    Winter sounds like a hum,
    Winter looks like a freeze,
    Winter feels like a sneeze,
    Winter thinks like a fridge,
    Winter feels like some ice,
    Winter Pictures look like fun.

    WINTER POEM

    Snow snow go away,
    Warmer weather come today

    Getting bored with cold weather,
Because there is nothing to better.

Shiver! shiver! is all I can feel,
It will get better, when I have a hot meal.

Lines must end about this winter,
As the feeling continues till Summer.

  5. I can see snow,
I can hear the snow falling from the sky,
    I can taste the snow,
The garden is covered in a thick blanket of snow,
I can smell the steaming hot chocolate,
Winter is cold but also fun,

  6. Winter Poem

    Its a snow fall
    The skies are all white
Ever green trees are covered in snow
Children are screaming, shouting and having fun
Swans are swimming in cold water
Animals are drifting of to sleep
    Is this happening?
    Is this real?

    So cold and so frosty
    Like you can slip
Little but loud dogs scream and shout
Somewhere in the air magic flows

  7. Hawa,
    Winter Poem
In Winter I am getting too cold.
In winter I want to be cosy.
    In winter I am freezing.
    In winter snow fall downs.
    In winter I play games.
In winter I get Christmas cards.
In winter I do some trick with my brother.
In winter I can make snowman.

  8. Winter has come,
    and children are having fun.

    Snow is falling,
    and Christmas trees are up.

lights are sparkling in the dark,
    to make a colorful mark.

Christmas stockings ready to bee filled,
with presents and sweets to eat.

  9. It is winter time,
    So let's have some fun.

    Snow, snow let us play,
    I don't mind if it's cold today.

Put warm clothes on, as I say,
We will go on a snowy journey today.

We can take our ice skates with us,
    And return on a bus.

  10. It’s a winter day cold and crisp
Birds are singing with a wisp.
The land is covered with snow,
as far as you know. Snowflakes were falling
    the wind was howling.
    The children were playing,
    and having a snow fight
    Everything was covered with snow
    and looked very white. Armaan

    Everybody was wearing cosy gloves,
    and warm hats.
They all give an impression of looking
    like fury cats

  11. Winter poem:

    Winter is snowy and icy
Santa is coming to visit you nicely.
    Hot chocolates are warm
We go to bed with a yawn.
    Advent calendar open each day
We hope the snow won’t go away.
    Lights on the tree glow
    Robin hopping in the snow

  12. A fresh breeze near mountains. skies are always blue and clear.
The sea is very big and deep and ducks are very near.

Cups of Tea and the snacks on the table ready to serve. Closer to the fire and I am already feeling hotter and hotter.

I peeped through the window and I could see the snow.
I liked it very much and decided to go.

Sitting below the light makes me glow
Snow is thicker and thicker and I am feeling really cold.

  13. The Winter Poem:
    Winter!Winter!
Oh how much I love you

The snowball fights that you make us get into
And the snowmen you make us build

The sweet aroma of Christmas Pudding
Swirling around like seagulls in the sky

    Presents lying around the tree
Near my stockings is what I can see

I can hear owls with their speech
    While we talk over them

Th Christmas Pudding in my mouth
    Full of sweet tastes

    Mountains full of snow
    Christmas TV full of show

Oh how much I love winter
    It includes my birthday

  15. Winter Peom
    Winter winds howl madly
    Ice forms when water freezes.
    No sunlight for twelve hours.
    This season to celebrate.
    Ever year doesn't snow.
    Ready for christmas?
