Book Reviews
Here is an example book review:
This book was about a bird who didn't yet know how to fly.
The bird has to decide if it will try to fly, but it was not sure if it wants to. The bird thought, "If I never forever endeavour" then I won't ever learn. On one wing, he worries he might fail and on the other wing he thinks of how he may succeed. He worries that if he tries, he may get lost in the world. That makes him want to stay in his nest where he's safe.
I think this book would help other children to learn that trying new things can be scary, but sometimes when we try, we can find things that make us happy too. And this book will help others know that mistakes are okay and part of learning.
My favourite part is that the bird tried and learned that she could fly. I also liked that I read this book because it gave me a chance to talk to people about making mistakes and how I don't like making them. Then I learned they are good and part of learning.
Boys and girls who are 3 to 8 years old would like this book because it teaches about trying a new thing and how it's important to get past being scared so you can learn new things.
I give the book 5 stars since I think it's important for other children to learn about courage.
This week your task is to write a book review. It should be about a paragraph long and include:
·Title and author
·What the book was about
·What you thought of the book
·What ages/types of people you think should read it
·If you would recommend it to a friend

ReplyDeleteButtons The Runaway Puppy
By Holly Webb
This book is about a chocolate Labrador puppy named Buttons. She doesn’t get enough walks but is keen to be free and explore. Then one day Mr Jenkins neighbour Sophie finds her running on the streets and thinks she’s playing but, it is serious.
I think it’s really good for children who like dogs because it shows you how much you have to look after them. I liked the part when Sophie sees her big brown loving eyes and her tail wagging happily. It also shows that you need to have enough power and energy to look after them and keep them healthy.
I think 5-8 years olds will like it and obviously people who love animals too. I think it’s a really good book because it might describe how friendly and loving they are. So I think that it will make you want to get one.
I would definitely recommend it to a younger friend it explains why you need the right pet for you and the only things you will need is time, money and effort.

I am writing a book review about " Encyclopedia of the human body" book. The author is Steve Parker. It is about where does your voice come from, what makes your heart pump and many more. I think it is amazing espacially page number 91 where it has a box and says It's amazing! During a typical day the adult heart pumps out about 7500 litres of blood. That would be enough blood to fill more than 50 baths. How amazing is that? I think it is for all ages. I give 100%out of 100%.

My book review is Cinder boy and is by, Arthur Robins. The book is about Cinder boy who was treated like a slave by his horrible step farther and his two horrible stepbrothers. The whole family loved a specific type of a football team called royal palace united who were good. The captain was injured so he couldn't play so Cinder boy did, and changed the turn. The other team were winning but somehow Cinder boy managed to win the game. He went home and started cleaning the house but was offered a 50 50 deal with the royal palace united manager to play for them. He lived happily ever after. I loved the book because it had a good setting. It also created a whole lot of suspense. I think the people that should read this book should be aged 6-7. There was a tabby cat called Fluff and was desperate to have a home of her own like her brothers and sisters, but no one seems to want her. Fluff lived in a farm while she didn’t have a home. Ella, a girl who came to the farm and she falls in love with Fluff straight away and plead her mum to have Fluff but her mum was sure that they are not having a pet cat. Ella was broken hearted and Fluff was petrified. Mean while a family wanted to have Fluff and one person in the family didn’t want Fluff but he had to take care of Fluff so Fluff ran out of the family house and started to search for Ella. Soon when she got half way through, a fox saw her and let her stay in the fox’s borrow and the fox looked after the kitten until it was morning. When she woke up Fluff started her journey where she had left. After she went to the park to look for Ella because she had thought that Ella would be in the park but she wasn’t so she sat under a bench near the park so she could wait, if Ella would come to the park . A little while later, Fluff got out of the park because she realized that Ella won’t come to that park. And started to search again for Ella but she was nowhere to be found.
Next she remembered that she didn’t come past the little street when she was going to the family’s house. Fluff turned back and looked around and she walked in the opposite direction. Mean while Fluff was finding Ella, Ella was putting up poster for a missing cat who was Fluff. Finally fluff found a house and she went in by using the cat flap. When she arrived in the house the little boy gave food to his cat but then fluff went to the cat’s food bowl and was trying to eat the cat food, the boy pushed Fluff out to the street so she didn’t eat his cat’s food. Fluff was so scared and cold that she tucked herself in a corner right next to the house she went in so she didn’t get cold. Before long, it was starting to get dark and fluff was tired. Then she slept for a bit then eventually when she woke up from her sleep she started to walk some more then she saw Ella’s house and tried to go in but she couldn’t and Fluff didn’t know that it was time for Ella to go to school. Fluff waited for Ella to open the door but she didn’t. Suddenly Ella opened the door so she could go to school and Ella saw Fluff and she took care of fluff.
I would give it 10 stars because it tells you about how animals react when they get lost from a place they really love and their human. I think children older than 5 could read this book because if they want to know about animals this could tell them some facts about them.

Danny The Champion of the World
ReplyDeleteby Roald Dahl
The book is about Danny who lives in a gypsy caravan with his dad. He is helping his dad to mend cars. He's dad is his best friend, who never runs out of wonderful stories to tell. One day Danny discovers his father’s secret, and he’s off on the adventure of a lifetime. This is Roald Dahl’s famous story about a 9-year-old boy, his dad, and a daring and hilarious pheasant-snatching expedition. This is also story about love between a boy and his father. Danny said about his dad:"My father, without the slightest doubt, was the most marvelous and exciting father any boy ever had".
This book is fantastic . I think that the book is full of love and feelings. The description is so strong that you don’t even need to look at images! The book is also very funny.
Children between age of 5-10 would enjoy this book, because is teaches them about love, respect and responsibilities.
I give the book 20 stars, because I think it's important for other children to learn about love and respect to others.
The really useful guide to Kings and Queens of England.
ReplyDeleteBy Historic Royal Palaces
This book is a non-fiction book that tells you all you need to know about the Kings and Queens of England. The book tells us how long they reigned for, and how they ruled in particular ways. It also tells us interesting and gruesome facts about them. My favourite one of all is Edward the Confessor because he knows how to rule and is a good King in some ways. I think the book is 5/5 stars because it told me facts I never even dreamed of. I would recommend the book to people who don’t know much about Kings and Queens and who are over 8 years old.
A Bad Spell For The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy
ReplyDeleteThis is a fiction book about a girl called Mildred Hubble. She goes to witch academy to learn how to be a proper witch and learn about spells. The academy is a girl’s boarding school for young witches. Mildred always gets into trouble when trying to make things right, her intentions are always good.
I think this book is good for the 7 or 8 years old girls who like adventures and suspense. It tells us how she gets into problem and solves it. In the story, it tells me that good people get what they want.
What I don’t like about the story is the teacher and some girls are horrible, ungentle and unkind.
I will give it 7/10.

ReplyDeleteGeorge’s marvellous medicine by Roald Dahl
ReplyDeleteThis book is about a little boy called George. Who was trying to
make a medicine. First medicine was for his grandma to make her feel better. He used a saucepan to put his funny ingredients in. He put in the saucepan Golden Gloss Hair Shampoo, Toothpaste, Super foam, Shaving Soap, Face cream, nail varnish (etc). His grandma became bigger and got even more thinner by drinking this medicine . He tested another concoction on a hen and her legs grow longer longer up to six feet tall. The third medicine he tested with a cockerel and his neck got longer .He made another medicine which grandma drank, thinking it was tea. It made grandma so tiny that she disappear. .
I found the story interesting because of his effort which he put in his medicine and tried to make it suitable for his grandma to drink. This book is suitable for ages 6-10.I will definitely recommend it to my friends. I give 4 stars to this book.

Then if any of them have any funny ideas of trying to stop you, they'll have me to deal with''. Nooooooooo!'' yelled king rat. rosa smiled. ''Thanks,Esmeralda. That's a great idea!'' She turned to nutmeg." Shall
we go to the palace ?" "First let's change our clothes,'' said nutmeg, looking down at her tattered and wet cabin boy costume."We can't go back looking like this.'' They climbed down to the sand then nutmeg spun round and round before stoping and pointing her wand first at rosa and then at herself. There was a bright flash of light and rosa looking down to see that her cabin boy clothes had changed back into
